A user friendly Excel-based spreadsheet, fondly known as the “matrix” has been developed by the partners involved in the development of the Rural and Environment Science Strategy (RESS) comprising a listing of upcoming high level science research and monitoring activities (see screenshot below). The main purpose of this is to identify where there might be the potential for collaboration on research or monitoring activities between the RESS partners.
The matrix has been trialled in terms of its potential use in helping to align activities of the partners, and to identity science gaps both in terms of current needs, and anticipated future drivers and uncertainties.
The matrix is useful for:
- identification of priority science areas for each organisation
- identification of contact persons for these science areas
- stimulating a conversation around common aspirations and gaps
It is intended that the matrix will be maintained up to date on a six monthly cycle.
